Mayfair Exclusive Private Walking Tour
An outdoor tour around one of London's wealthiest areas
The beautiful red brick and terracotta look has earned this neighbourhood the nickname of the 'Paradise of Pink Terracotta'.
An oasis of calm in the centre of London.
Home to Norman Hartnell's fashion empire for the 50 years from the 1920s.
The beautiful red brick and terracotta look has earned this neighbourhood the nickname of the 'Paradise of Pink Terracotta'.
When Dick Whittington told his cat that the streets of London were paved with gold, he must have been talking about Mayfair! This is one of London's poshest areas, quite simply London at its best, where weekly rentals can exceed £4500. You wander by some of the most exclusive shops in town where you can imagine what life might be like if money was no object. It's a treasure trove for the shopaholics among you!
But Mayfair is not just about its shops: grand houses built for the aristocracy sit side by side with the cute mews properties which used to house their servants and stable lads; one minute we are strolling by the late Queen's birthplace and the next wandering through Shepherd Market where for centuries high class prostitutes plied their trade and one particularly famous Tory MP lost his reputation!
Nestled behind some of the busiest and most prosperous streets in the capital is one of the prettiest (and quietest!) gardens, a peaceful haven in the heart of London. It is hard to believe that London's busiest shopping street is just 5 minutes walk away.

As we stroll along the streets and parks of elegant Mayfair, I'll tell you how it has adapted over the centuries: how it moved on from being a playground to the aristocracy, to a thriving commercial centre with shops and embassies arriving 'en masse', to a gigantic, post war office block and finally, to the comfortable mix of residential, commercial, retail and leisure which exists today.

A fascinating, sophisticated private walking tour that includes Mayfair's highs and lows; it is of particular interest to adult audiences.

The meeting place for Mayfair guided walking tours is under the Colonnade of the Ritz Hotel, Piccadilly next to Green Park underground station. This is the starting point for many tours in London and so it gets quite busy. I will meet you about halfway along the colonnade, under a sign on the wall which reads: 'Ritz Club'.

If you would like to make this a longer tour, why not book a combined tour of Mayfair and St James which will last for about 4 hours.
